Christopher and Carol Shepherd

Tolworth, Surrey

Christopher and Carol live in a tidy, modern semi-detached house with a beautiful garden in the town of Tolworth in Surrey, and have been hosting international students for over 10 years. They continue to stay in touch with many of their former guests, even occasionally meeting them during holidays abroad. Though Carol is retired, Christopher continues to work as a gardener. The couple are interested in diverse cultures and take part in charity work that helps children from other countries with their education and well-being. They are also very close to their children and enjoy inviting their grandchildren to their home. They love hosting international students and make sure that they are involved in family life, sharing meals, playing games, getting help with their English and going out together.

The Shepherds’ home is located on a quiet residential area with a range of facilities nearby. Tolworth train station is less than 10 minutes walk away (with regular services to London Waterloo) while a local bus stop allows access to Kingston-upon-Thames and its wide range of shopping facilities, cafes, restaurants, market, cinema and riverside walks.

The family have two spare bedrooms to offer to students. Each has a single bed, desk, wardrobe and a bedside table. There is a family bathroom upstairs as well as a shower room on the ground floor. Wi-Fi and a washing machine are available.
